Brisbane Capitals - U12 Representative Trials (2025)

Brisbane Capitals Representative Program is pleased to open registrations for male and female players born 2014 & 2015 (2016 born players encouraged to attend for the experience) interested in trialing for the 2025 Under 12 Representative Teams.

Brisbane Basketball Inc. will nominate teams of 10 players for GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE teams (as per Team Selection Policy) in the Boys and Girls competitions which includes both the SQJBC competition and State Championship tournament.

Brisbane Capitals representative teams compete in the highest level of junior and youth aged based basketball competition in Queensland. Including the South Queensland Junior Basketball Competition (SQJBC) and State Championships. Players must be available to commit to the full season which includes the SQJBC season and State Championships.

  • Trial #1: Sunday March 16th - 11:00am to 1.00pm (Indooroopilly State High School)
  • Trial #2: Sunday March 23rd - 11:00am to 1.00pm (Indooroopilly State High School)
  • Trial #3: Sunday March 30th - 11:00am to 1.00pm (Indooroopilly State High School)

Under 12 – BOYS Teams (Players born 2014 & 2015) - REGISTER HERE (Basketball Connect Rego Link)

  • Trial #1: Sunday March 16th - 9:00am to 11:00am (Indooroopilly State High School)
  • Trial #2: Sunday March 23rd - 9:00am to 11:00am (Indooroopilly State High School)
  • Trial #3: Sunday March 30th - 9:00am to 11:00am (Indooroopilly State High School)

UNDER 12 TEAM TRIAL DETAILS

  • Refer to TEAM SELECTION POLICY for selection philosophy, objectives, process and criteria.
  • TRIAL REGO FEE: $55.00 trial fee (GST inclusive) for up to 3 trials.
    • When registering through Basketball Connect, you may be required to pay additional BQ Membership Fees if your childs registration will expire during the registration window for this program.
  • Online registration only
    • Note: Parents should complete the registration form and include the family’s primary email as a contact.
  • Be sure to read and complete all components of the registration process.
  • Missing a Trial Session: Players are required to attend a minimum of two of the allocated three trial sessions to be considered for selection.
    • If a player is not able to attend one or more of the trial sessions, but still seeks to be considered for selection, a Trial Exemption Form must be completed.

  • On conclusion of the trial process teams will be named and posted to the BBI website.
  • Weekly Commitment if Selected: Selected players should prepare to commence team practices up-to-twice per week commencing the week following team announcements and continuing through to State Championships.
    • Term 2 - Under 12 Rep Teams practice primarily on Sunday mornings and Tuesday or Thursday afternoons at Auchenflower, Dutton Park, or Yeronga SHS (Tuesday or Thursday).
    • Term 3 - SQJBC Competition commences; teams move to 2x mid-week practice sessions between 4-6pm
  • Priority Commitment: In Term 2 & 3, U12 Representative Basketball is the priority commitment between club and rep scheduling conflicts. Although BBI works to avoid conflicting schedules, they are unavoidable at times.
  • BBI reserves the right to refuse registration, or cancel a registration, of any player to any BBI or Capitals event for any reason from time-to-time.

KEY EVENTS & CONSIDERATIONS

Trials: See above
Player Invites: Sent between COB Wednesday, April 2 to noon Thursday, April 4th
Team Finalisation & Announcements: Afternoon of Friday, April 12th
SQJBC Grading: Commence weekend of May 31/June 1 through to June 21/22 (BQ finalise schedule apprx. 3weeks prior to grading)
SQJBC Season: SQJBC commences July 20th in the format of 7x double-headers played on Sundays + Playoff Games) concluding end of Term 2.
State Championships: Both Boys & Girls are September 25 - 28 (Zillmere, Brisbane);
 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA.

In support of a transparent selection process in accordance with the objectives of the Brisbane Capitals Performance Program, BBI has set out specific eligibility criteria to be applied across all Brisbane Capitals Junior Representative Teams.

Players are required to meet BBI eligibility requirements as outlined in the Selection Eligibity – Junior Representative Teams Policy

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Be registered with BBI and a BBI Club and playing in the correct BBJBC season (Term 4 & 1) within their correct Age Group (U12) as per the calendar year
  • Play a minimum of 50% of eligible games in the correct BBJBC Season within their correct Age Group as per the calendar year
  • An exemption to selection eligibility can be assessed by the BBI General Manager, when a player moves from a Queensland location outside a radius of 100 kilometre from the BBI office at Auchenflower, from a state outside of Queensland or from a country outside of Australia.
    • If an exemption is granted the player must immediately join a BBI Club.

BQ PLAYER TRANSFER

  • Players who last played for another Association MUST have a Full Transfer from their previous association Approved by BQ PRIOR to Attending the first Trial.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Basketball (named)
  • Towel
  • Brisbane Capital Reversible Training Singlet (or reversible club singlet)
  • Drink Bottle and recovery food
  • Change of Shirt after trials
  • To avoid dust/water on our courts, please Do Not wear your basketball shoes from outside the stadium (change into them once in the stadium).

 

REPRESENTATIVE TRIAL EXEMPTION REQUESTS

Parents/Guardians, whose child is unable to attend one or all of the above trial events, but still wishes to be considered for selection, should complete a representative trial exemption request form (links below). For all exemption requests involving prolonged injury or illness please refer section 8A of the TEAM SELECTION POLICY
