U14 Representative Team Selections - Registrations Open (2024-25)

Brisbane Capitals Representative Program is pleased to open registrations for male and female players born 2012 & 2013 interested in trailing for the 2024-25 Under 14 Representative Teams.

Brisbane Basketball Inc. will nominate teams of 10 players for GOLD, SILVER (and BRONZE teams as per Team Selection Policy) in the Boys and Girls competitions which includes both the SQJBC competition and State Championship tournament.

Brisbane Capitals representative teams compete in the highest level of junior and youth aged based basketball competition in Queensland. Including the South Queensland Junior Basketball Competition (SQJBC) and State Championships. Players must be available to commit to the full season which includes the SQJBC season and State Championships.

REGISTRATIONS TO GIRLS TEAM SELECTION CAMPS – NOW OPEN

Under 14 – GIRLS Teams (Players born 2012 & 2013) - REGISTER HERE

  • Team Selection Camp #1 (2x Sessions; including Performance Support Workshops): Sunday 17th of November - 8:30am to 3:30pm @ Auchenflower Stadium
  • Team Selection Camp #2 (2x Sessions; including Athletic Testing & Performance Support Workshops): Sunday 24th of November - 8:30am to 3:30pm @ Auchenflower Stadium


REGISTRATION TO BOYS PRE-TRIAL EVENT - NOW OPEN** (refer Selection Process - Re-Structure & Player Categorisation below)

Under 14 – BOYS Teams (Players born 2012 & 2013) - REGISTER HERE

  • Pre-Trial Event (2x On Court Sessions) Saturday 26th of October or 2nd of November - 4:30pm to 8:30pm @ Auchenflower Stadium (players chose ONE date ONLY)
    • Male players who have NOT played state level representative competition (SQJBC or State Champs) in the past 12 months are required to attend the Pre-Trial Event if they seek selection to an U14 boys representative team.
    • Only Identified players from the Pre-Trial Event will be invited via email to attend the U14 Boys Team Selection Camp.
  • IMPORTANT: Only Invited Players are permitted to attend the U14 Boys Team Selection Camp (November 17th & 24th).
    • Invited players includes:
      • All 2012 & 2013 players that played state level representative competition (SQJBC); and tournaments (SQJBC Grading or State Championships) - referred to as Tier #1 & #2 Athletes.
      • Identifed 2012 & 2013 players from the October 10th & November 2nd Pre-Trial Events.


U14 Boys Represetative Team Selection Process - Re-Structure (Information documents)

UNDER 14 TEAM SELECTION CAMP DETAILS

  • $55 trial fee (GST and online fee inclusive) for up to 3 trials. (includes Athletic Testing, Performance Support Workshops)
  • Online registration only
    • Note: Parents should complete the registration form and include the family’s primary email as a contact.
  • Be sure to read and complete all components of the registration process.
  • Missing a Trial Session: Players are required to attend a minimum of two of the allocated three trial sessions to be considered for selection.
    • If a player is not able to attend one or more of the trial sessions, but still seeks to be considered for selection, a Trial Exemption Form must be completed.
    • Players requiring an exemption due to missing a trial please scroll to the end of this page and click the link to request and exemption.
  • On conclusion of the trial process teams will be named and posted to the BBI website.
  • Selected players should prepare to commence team practices up-to-twice per week commencing the week following team announcements and continuing through to State Championships.
    • Under 14 Rep Teams practice primarily on an early week Afternoons (Monday or Tuesday) and a Thursday Afternoons or Sunday Mornings (if required)
  • BBI reserves the right to refuse registration, or cancel a registration, of any player to any BBI or Capitals event for any reason from time-to-time.

KEY EVENTS & CONSIDERATIONS
Trials: See above
Team Finalisation & Announcements: By, or before, the afternoon of Friday, December 6
SQJBC Grading: Premier League - League 3 (March 15th & 16th + March 22nd & 23rd); League 4 - 6 (March 22nd & 23rd + March 29th & 30th)
SQJBC Season: SQJBC commences 27th of April, 2025 and concludes end of Term 2, 2025.
State Championships: Girls, 2-5 of July 2025 (Cairns); Boys , 7-10 of July 2025 (Townsville)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA (Refer Selection Eligibility - Junior Representative Teams Policy).

In support of a transparent selection process in accordance with the objectives of the Brisbane Capitals Performance Program, BBI has set out specific eligibility criteria to be applied across all Brisbane Capitals Junior Representative Teams.

Players are required to meet BBI eligibility requirements as outlined in the Selection Eligibility - Junior Representative Teams Policy


BQ PLAYER TRANSFER

Players who last played for another Association MUST have a Full Transfer from their previous association Approved by BQ PRIOR to Attending the first Trial.

Therefore, please consider your personal circumstances carefully and if unsure please contact our office and Visit Basketball Queensland Website for Transfer Policy.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Athlete Diary and Completed - Sports Psychology exercise (Provided at Registration)
  • Basketball (named)
  • Towel
  • Brisbane Capital Reversible Training Singlet (or reversible club singlet)
  • Drink Bottle and recovery food
  • Change of Shirt after trials
  • To avoid dust/water on our courts, please Do Not wear your basketball shoes from outside the stadium (change into them once in the stadium).

REPRESENTATIVE TRIAL EXEMPTION REQUESTS
Parents/Guardians, whose child is unable to attend one or all of the above trial events, but still wishes to be considered for selection, should complete a representative trial exemption request form (links below). For all exemption requests involving prolonged injury or illness please refer section 6C of the Team Selection Policy.

Note: Approval of Exemption does not guarantee selection to a representative team.
